The Tony Hawk franchise has been one of the most popular and critically acclaimed in video game history, but it's about to take a big step: no longer will we control those kick-flips and other tricks with our thumbs; this time, we'll do it with our feet.

If you find this idea intriguing, you'll be happy to learn that Tony Hawk: Ride now has an official North American launch date of November 17, according to a recent report by GameSpot. Our European friends will receive it a few days later on November 20 and although Activision didn't announce a price tag for the game, retailer information tells us it should come in at $119.99. That board is described as having "a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors" that will allow it to read the movements of your feet.

To enhance the authenticity even further, we'll get the benefit of real-life stars in the game; the likes of Lyn-Z, Paul Rodriguez, Christian Hosoi, Mike Mo Capaldi and Cara Beth Burnside will be featured. The series has garnered a gigantic following of loyal fans over the past decade and really, this is the accessory they've been waiting for. We weren't too impressed when we went hands-on (or feet-on; whatever), but here's hoping the final build will be more responsive and and accurate.

Considering the cost, though, you may have to make a choice between this one and Activision's other major blockbuster for November, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The good news for the publisher is that these two games will likely cater to different demographics.
