Google I/O 2011: Google’s Chromebox?
« on: May 11, 2011, 10:03:02 PM »

Today at Google I/O 2011 we’ve been getting lots of information about Chrome and Chrome OS. And one very new thing they announced was that Chrome OS will be heading to desktops in the future.

So today Google kind of teased a Samsung ChromeBox at Google I/O 2011. The ChromeBox as the name suggests is a Chrome Box or Chrome Desktop. You could probably just call it a nettop though since it’s more like a nettop since it has less power than the average desktop.

Chances are this machine will have very similar specs to the netbook or ChromeBooks. That means a dual core Intel Atom chip, and that kind of stuff. But battery life, and 3G isn’t as important so instead it should have Ethernet and probably improved graphics. But we’re really going to need to wait on this one.

Google isn’t giving out much information on this upcoming Samsung ChromeBox but I’m sure it will be just like what a nettop is to a netbook. It will just be a desktop version for those who aren’t really wanting to use their computers away from home or really away from the desk in the office.
