Ever since the release of the Nexus 7, analysts have wondered what impact, if any, it would have on Android tablets' market share battle with the iPad. The possible release of the iPad Mini, later this year, could throw another wrench into the works. Fortunately, we have already seen an Android vs. Apple battle in the smartphone market. Let's take a look at the parallels we can draw between the smartphone and tablet market and project the possible market share trends in the tablet market. Before we begin, we need to understand the global smartphone market share trends over the past couple of years. It is important to understand that ever since the iPhone and Android were launched, the market segmented into legacy smartphone platforms (BlackBerry, Symbian & Windows Mobile) and modern smartphone platforms (iOS, Android & Windows Phone). This analysis ignores the potential impact of Microsoft's Surface & Windows 8 tablets because I expect them to have relatively small significance on the market, due to various reasons I have already covered...Complete coverage is posted on Our Forum.
Nexus 7 Camping Promotional Video

The Nexus 7 tablet is already a hot seller, having run out of stock in many retailer channels so far. So that’s why we take a break from analyzing the device and have a look at its promotion. The Google Nexus YouTube channel published a fresh ad yesterday, highlighting the bond between father and son as they play with a Nexus 7 tablet in Mother Nature’s arms. Turns out that the Mother Nature was in fact their back yard, but still it makes for a nice outdoor experience. It’s nice to see the 7 inch quad core discretely integrated into the life of the two campers, with aspects such as video playing, Google Earth and stuff like that. It’s not like they’re checking out YouTube all day long or playing Fruit Slice and ignoring the nature. Also, as Samsung, ASUS and Apple have done over the past years in their ads, this commercial is all about family and bonding...Finish reading this and enjoy the video full size on Our Forum.
One step ahead of Apple

While Apple was hard at work coming up with a fix for Russian hacker Alexey Borodin’s iOS in-app purchasing exploit, the wily hacker has unveiled a similar exploit for in-app purchases on Mac OS X. The latest hack, which affects OS X 10.7 and above (earlier versions don’t support in-app purchases), also relies on tricking Apple’s very basic receipt system for in-app purchases. Borodin’s latest exploit method doesn’t differ too much from his original iOS hack: You simply need to install two system certificates, change your DNS settings to point to his server, and use a new app call "Grim Receiper." The app is the only unique element of the Mac OS X hack, and it serves to keep track receipts for you to reuse, according to Borodin’s explanation. Basically, Borodin is taking advantage of Apple’s shortsightedness when it comes to in-app purchases. Instead of tying purchases directly to customer’s user accounts or devices...Get better informed by paying a visit to Our Forum.
Nexus 7 vs iPad fight gets wet

SquareTrade has taken Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet and put it up against the new iPad in drop and dunk tests, and it might surprise you to learn that the Nexus 7 has been named the winner. In all, SquareTrade performed three tests: both tablets were dunked in water, dropped from a standing position, and pushed off the edge of a table. Though the iPad put up a good fight in some situations, it was ultimately the Nexus 7 that was crowned the most resilient of the two. With the dropping test, the Nexus 7 came out barely damaged, with the touchscreen still fully intact and only showing a few scuffs on its backside. The drop wasn’t so easy on the iPad, which ended up with fewer scratches on the backside but cracked glass on the front. In the second drop test – in which both tablets were pushed off the side of a concrete bench to simulate falling off a table – the results were pretty similar. Once again, the Nexus 7 made it out with only a few scratches on the back, while the iPad suffered a cracked front for the second time...Read more plus watch the video on Our Forum.

Microsoft officially announced and detailed Office 2013 yesterday and on this occasion we found out that it will integrate Skype and it will be available for free on Windows RT tablets, those based on ARM chipsets. Buyers will get 20GB of SkyDrive storage extra for free and the new Office will support working across Windows devices, with Windows Phone 8 included. The new Office 2013 will be totally free on each new tablet or hybrid running Windows RT. Other things worth mentioning about the new Office is that it’s made to respond in an excellent way to touch input, as naturally as it does to keyboard and mouse interaction. Swiping and pinching to zoom is supported easily and it comes in handy when reading documents and presentations. Inking is also available, so you can use a stylus to create content, take notes and access features...For more details visit Our Forum.

The explosion of malware attacks and high-profile password and data breaches serve as confirmation that resourceful hackers are determined to break into your computer and online accounts. It's time to pay attention to these issues and follow some basic steps to stay secure while using your PC and surfing the web. Password managers help to manage the mess of creating strong, unique passwords for multiple online accounts. Set up and use full disk encryption to protect your private data, especially when travelling. Full disk encryption uses mathematical techniques to scramble data so it is unintelligible without the right key. Malicious hacker attacks against Java vulnerabilities have exploded over the last two years. If you don't absolutely need it chances are you don't!. Popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are happy hunting grounds for cyber-criminals...We have more ways to secure your PC and online accounts listed on Our Forum.
Windows 7 Users Need To Run This Killswitch

Next Thursday (July 26), security researchers Mickey Shkatov and Toby Kohlenberg are scheduled to deliver a presentation at Black Hat USA 2012 hacker conference. There they will highlight weaknesses with a technology embedded into every Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation — the Sidebar and Gadgets platform. You need to act before they do this. Gadgets are small snippets of HTML code that run on the Windows desktop. They were born in a different era, one where the malware and threat landscapes was very different. But as Windows has hardened over the years, hackers have been busy looking for new, cleverer weaknesses. According to Shkatov and Kohlenberg, the Sidebar and Gadgets platform is rife with weaknesses. There’s not a lot of information about what will be delivered at the presentation, but the pre-announcement gives us a few clues as to the severity...Learn more and download this "Kill Switch" from Our Forum.
Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD

The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is a tablet with a 10.1 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, a Huawei quad-core processor, and an 8MP rear-camera. It runs Google Android 4.0, supports 4G LTE mobile broadband, and looks like a pretty nifty tablet in most respects. But you can’t buy one yet. Huawei first introduced the tablet in February, and recently announced it will go on sale in China by the end of August. There’s still no word on international launch details, but Huawei has been pushing its phones and tablets in the US, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the MediaPad 10 FHD show up on western shores one of these days. Android Central spotted an official video showing off the MediaPad 10 FHD on Huawei’s YouTube channel. So now we know the tablet has an IPS display, an 8MP camera with auto-focus and dual LED flash, and Dolby surround audio. The tablet features Huawei’s own quad-core processor with 16 graphics processor cores. It sounds a lot like an NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip...There's more on Our Forum.
The European Union wants to take a closer look at Windows 8 and Windows RT

In addition to the current investigations into Microsoft’s failure to give some Windows users a browser ballot screen, European Union (EU) antitrust officials are also looking into Windows 8 and Windows RT. More specifically, charges that Microsoft has blocked rival browser makers from harnessing the power of Windows 8 for their software, according to the Reuters news service. Earlier this Wednesday, Reuters reported that the European Commission had launched an inquest into accusations against Microsoft. The software maker is alleged to impede other browser makers’ efforts to build software that runs in Windows 8 and ARM-powered tablet offshoot, Windows RT. The new investigation is part of the one the Commission opened Tuesday, when it said Microsoft broke a three-year-old agreement by failing to supply a "browser choice" screen to customers running Windows 7 Service Pack 1...Follow this on Our Forum.
Macrium Reflect

Backing up your PC occasionally is a very good idea: there's no better way to protect your valuable files from hardware failure, virus attack and other data disasters. But it's important to do it properly. Running a simple file-based backup, for instance, will be quick, but only because you'll probably leave so much behind: emails, contacts, browser favourites, digital photos, music, fonts, Windows and application settings, Office add-ons, browser extensions - the list goes on. Use Macrium Reflect - Free Edition, though, and the program will take a complete image of your entire hard drive. This will take longer, and you'll probably need a second hard drive to hold the image, but if disaster does strike in the future then you'll appreciate the difference. You won't have to reinstall Windows, or your applications, or try to recover any lost data: just boot from the program's rescue disc, restore the backup, and your PC will be back working as normal within an hour or two. Handwritting is supported of email responses and you can convert them automatically to text, if you want...Learn more and download on Our Forum.
Cross-platform Trojan checks your OS

Remember the cross-platform malware that exploited Java to attack both PCs and Macs? Well here's a better one for you: a Trojan downloader that checks your operating system so it can pick which malware to download onto your computer. The new Web-based social engineering attack, first detected on a compromised website in Colombia, relies on a malicious Java applet to install backdoors on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. When you first visit such a compromised site, you are prompted to install the Java applet, which unsurprisingly hasn't been signed with a certificate. If you do so, the applet checks which operating system you have (Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux) and then drops a corresponding Trojan for your platform. Malware writers love using a cross-platform plugin as an attack vector because it allows them to target more than one operating system, and thus more potential users...For more indepth reding visit windows8newsinfo forum.
