Xbox Music is great, but the service is flawed in ways that shouldn't have existed. If you have a Windows Phone 7 handset or a Windows 7 PC, know one thing - Microsoft doesn't love you. Want the company to have serious feelings for you? Upgrade, simple. Microsoft's Xbox Music streaming platform is mainly a re-branding of Zune with a few extra features here and there. We like the new name and the new features it brings, but what we hate is how Microsoft chose to abandon those customers who are planning to continue using Windows 7 and the other few who own a Windows Phone 7 device, and may not have the cash to upgrade to Windows Phone 8. Microsoft acknowledged that it has no plans to give Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7/7.5/7.8 users some Xbox Music love. Users of those platforms will be forced to either continue using the soon-to-be-dead Zune Pass, or find a way to upgrade to Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8...Full details are provided on Our Forum. |

Earlier today Motorola took the stage and announced the next stage of their DROID lineup. That being primarily the Motorola DROID RAZR HD complete with a beautiful 4.7-inch HD display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and all day battery life. Then they surprised us all by announcing a RAZR MAXX HD too. The MAXX of course featuring a massive 3,300 mAh battery offering unparalleled battery life. Check out our hands-on pictures. The details have finally been confirmed and basically revealing very little we didn’t already know. The all new Motorola DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD are in many many ways extremely similar to last years model, while getting a boost in a few much needed areas. You’ll get the same awesome hardware, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and Kevlar coating all around — but this time the screen and processor received some much needed attention. The new RAZRs will be the first smartphones to ship with Google’s own Chrome browser preinstalled, but the star of the show is that 4.7-inch HD |

The Arnova FamilyPad is a new large-screen Android tablet from Archos. We spotted it at the FCC website this summer, and recently Archos Slovenia posted a few more details. Now ARMDevices has posted a hands-on video showing the tablet in action. We finally have a detailed list of specifications for the 13.3 inch Android tablet. Archos hasn’t announced a price for the tablet yet, but the company tends to use the Arnova brand name for its more affordable products. The FamilyPad also has a relatively slow (and inexpensive) 1 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor, which will help keep the price down. When you lie the tablet flat on the tablet, it’s a decent size for playing multi-player games, and you can check out a brief Glow Hockey match toward the end of the video. The tablet is expected to launch in the next month or two. Archos may also offer a model with a higher resolution, 1440 x 900 pixel display...To learn more details and more specifications visit Our Forum. |

With the rapidly approaching release of Windows 8, I am asked on a somewhat regular basis when Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7. "Some say the end date is 2015, others say…2020. So what's the right answer?" Both answers are right. Microsoft will stop mainstream support on January 12, 2015. But the company will keep providing extended support until January 14, 2020. "Well, thank you," you're probably saying. "That's as clear as a new industry acronym." Through January 12, 2015, Microsoft will provide the same complete support you have today. You'll receive both security and non-security updates. Your warranty claims will be considered and possibly honored. If your license came with no-charge incident support (yes, it exists), you'll continue to receive it. Microsoft may even add features and change the design. But in 2015, Windows 7 will go onto extended support, which just covers the basics...Get the complete picture on Our Forum. |

Windows 7's malware infection rate climbed by as much as 182% this year, Microsoft said today. But even with that dramatic increase, Windows 7 remained two to three times less likely to fall to hacker attack than the aged Windows XP. Data from Microsoft's newest twice-yearly security report showed that in the second quarter of 2012, Windows 7 was between 33% and 182% more likely to be infected by malware than in the second quarter of 2011. The infection rate for Windows RTM, or "release to manufacturing," the original version launched in Oct. 2009, was 33% higher this year for the 32-bit edition (x86), 59% higher for the 64-bit (x64) OS. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) -- the upgrade that shipped in Feb. 2011 -- saw even larger infection increases: 172% for x86, 182% for x64. Microsoft blamed several factors for the boost in successful malware attacks, including less savvy users. "This may be caused in part by increasing acceptance and usage of the newest consumer version of Windows," said Microsoft in its latest Security Intelligence Report...Learn more on Our Forum. |

It's been almost a year and a half since Microsoft released a test build of Internet Explorer (IE) 10 for Windows 7. Since that time, Microsoft officials have refused to comment as to why there were no further builds or when a final version of IE10 for Windows 7 would be available. On October 17, there was finally a ray of hope for those IE10 loyalists wanting Microsoft's latest browser on Windows 7. In an IEBlog post, Microsoft officials said a new preview of IE10 for Windows 7 would be out some time in November 2012. Microsoft delivered its most recent preview of IE10 for Windows 7 in June 2011. There's no updated word as to when the final IE10 for Windows 7 will be out. But at least there's finally official confirmation the product is still alive. A leaked Microsoft roadmap from late last year led some of us to believe Microsoft was planning to deliver IE10 for Windows 7 at the same time as IE10 for Windows 8 was released to manufacturing. But that turned out not to be the case...Track the progress of this build and eventual release on Our Forum. |

Microsoft is charging $499 for a 32GB tablet. For $599 you can get the same model plus a "touch cover" which serves as wireless keyboard for the tablet when it’s not busy protecting the screen. There’s also a 64GB model with a touch cover for $699. In other words, Microsoft is charging the same price for its 32GB 10.6 inch Surface RT tablet running Windows RT as Apple charges for a 9.7 inch, 16GB tablet running iOS. The Surface RT features an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It measures 0.37 inches thick and weighs 1.5 pounds. The tablet has a microSD card slot for expansion, a USB 2.0 port, and a micro HDMI port and features a 31.5 Whr battery. There are front and rear cameras, and a kickstand on the back of the tablet that lets you prop it up while you’re using the optional keyboard cover. It doesn’t have an iPad-like “Retina” display. This model has a standard HD display. But Microsoft plans to launch a Surface Pro tablet soon which features the full Windows 8 operating system and a |

A huge Microsoft Surface banner advertisement has been spotted in Times Square of New York City. The banner has been placed on a building on the second floor and it can be seen on the three sides of the corner. Time Square is probably the most visited place in whole New York or even in US and thousands of companies display their products there, to be showed to the millions of people who visit the location each day. Now, Microsoft has also displayed the biggest Surface banner there to advertise its new Surface tablet which is scheduled to be launched on October 25. June Blender, who works as a programmer for Microsoft on PowerShell posted the image of the Surface banner at Times Square on her Twitter profile. This banner is not the first one of its kind and previously we have seen the banner ads on dozens of places. Even subways and transit stations have been flooded with the Surface banner advertisements...The push is on and you have ring side seats to it all at windows8newsinfo forum. |

Firefox 16 is scheduled for release tomorrow to the Stable channel and the current version on the Beta channel is very likely the one that will graduate to stable version (with a few under the hood changes). There aren’t any major updates to speak of, and most Firefox users are probably waiting for version 18 with the new Australis theme to debut. Still, there are a few minor changes for users and one significant change for Developers. Native support for PDFs (introduced in Firefox 15 Beta) that did not make it to the Stable version and wasn’t working at all when we tested it, appears to be responding now in Firefox 16. You will still have to enable it from about:config configuration page by searching for the pdfjs.disabled option and setting it to False. In hopes that this will at least show up in the final release notes, other features to look forward to include a new developer toolbar, VoiceOver support in OS X, Web App support and Incremental Garbage Collection...Learn more and download fron Our Forum. |

Yes, its a slow news day but thats not stopping hackers who were apparently able to cause massive city deaths in the popular game, World of Warcraft. Thanks to an in-game exploit, which has now been fixed by Blizzard, characters in some of the games major cities were instantly killed off. As you can see from the screenshot above, the in-game exploit caused massive city deaths. "Earlier today, certain realms were affected by an in-game exploit, resulting in the deaths of player characters and non-player characters in some of the major cities. This exploit has already been hotfixed, so it should not be repeatable. It's safe to continue playing and adventuring in major cities and elsewhere in Azeroth," Blizzard stated in an official blog post. The company is taking this very seriously and is undergoing an investigation to see how this happened. If you play this game, were you able to see the exploit taking place? Take a look at the video which shows the in-game exploit in action...This and more posted on Our Forum. |
